Key Functions of the Museum
Artistic subject matter will focus on Jesus Christ
While Christian art has a very wide scope, the focus will be on art specifically about Jesus: his life and teachings and representations of Him and his mission. Christian art depicting Jewish Bible (Old Testament) scenes, Christian history, saints, disciples, missions, and artifacts of the Christian bible will be subordinated to this focus.
The bulk of the collection will be focused on Paintings. But a significant effort will be made to represent many forms of art including: Film, Sculpture, Stained Glass, and Music. Additionally, Christian artifacts will be collected.
Many Art Forms will be represented
Worshipful, Inspirational, Realistic, Abstract, Provocative, Controversial, Pious, Quirky,
(and even Fun in the right balance)
Many styles of art will be represented
Gender, Race, Ethnicity, International peoples, Impoverished, Handicapped
Attempts will be made to highlight diverse perspectives (particularly within the contemporary collection)
Ancient Early Christian, Medieval, Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Neoclassical, Romantic, Realism, Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstract, Pop, Conceptual, through Contemporary Christian Art.
All Art Periods will be represented
Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, International, Latter-day Saints, Evangelicals, etc.
Many Christian Traditions will be represented
The collections timeframe is the entirety of Christianity
The bulk of the collection will be focused on works from these timeframes: Ancient, Classical, and Contemporary art.
